Knowledge (Theory):
You will learn about:
- Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.
- Hazard and risk minimization.
- Infection control and workplace first aid procedures.
- First aid kit contents and Duty of Care requirements.
- Privacy, confidentiality, and stress management techniques for rescuers.
- Proper hand placement, compression/ventilation cycles, and AED use.
- Chain of survival and communication with emergency services.
- Basic anatomical differences and first aid considerations for infants, children, and adults.
Practical Skills:
You’ll gain hands-on experience to:
- Perform CPR and use an AED on unconscious, non-breathing adults, children, and infants.
- Place an unconscious, vomiting casualty into the recovery position.
- Open an airway for an unconscious, breathing infant.
- Follow the DRSABCD action plan, complete incident reports, and hand over care to emergency services.
