How Long Is My First Aid Certificate Valid?
Refer to the list below to check the validity of each certification:
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
This certificate, previously known as Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid, is valid for three years. However, the CPR component must be renewed annually to maintain your certification.
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
The CPR certificate is valid for one year, in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS)
The BELS certificate remains valid for three years.
HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely (Manual Handling)
For healthcare workers, an annual refresher course is required.
Can First Aid Training Be Delivered at My Workplace?
Yes, first aid training can be conducted on-site at your workplace and customized to meet your specific requirements. The training can address known and potential risks associated with your work environment and include:
- General first aid instructions.
- Workplace-specific hazards.
- Tailored knowledge and skills.
- Injuries relevant to your workplace.
If needed, our training materials can be contextualized to reflect your organization’s specific needs.
People under 18 do the First Aid Course?
While there is no strict minimum age requirement for our first aid courses, we strongly recommend that participants under 18 be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For those under the age of 14, we kindly request they attend with a paying parent or guardian. Additionally, a parent or guardian must read and agree to the terms and conditions when enrolling a minor.
We aim to encourage as many people as possible to learn first aid. Although the training is appropriate for all age groups, it is primarily designed for adult learners, and most public sessions are attended by adults. The courses include practical activities, often completed in pairs or groups, which may be physically demanding. Some courses also feature multiple-choice assessments conducted on electronic devices.
Do I need to complete online learning before my in person course?
As your course follows a blended learning format (online and in-person), it is essential to complete the online component before attending the in-person session. Certificates will only be issued once all course requirements are fulfilled.
We recommend allocating 2–4 hours to complete the online learning before your in-person training. You can save your progress and finish it at your convenience.
What Do I need to bring to my in person course?
First aid and CPR courses include practical demonstrations and activities on the floor, so it’s advisable to wear comfortable clothing and you can bring a towel if you wish to support your knees.
How long will it take to get my certificate?
You will receive your certificate after you have met the requirements for completing the course, such as finishing the assessment and providing your date of birth and USI number as required for accredited courses.
